What information will I need to disclose as an artist or client?

Artists will need to disclose personal name/financial information to Stripe, but Banchan does not collect this at all. Unfortunately, legal names must be used for setting up those accounts/payments (but not on the Banchan site itself) because these are financial transactions, but we're committed to addressing the needs of the trans community and similarly vulnerable folks for whom this can be a big concern. Stripe may also, separately, request additional identity verification which might include social security numbers. Banchan never sees or touches or has any access to any of that.

Clients will not need to disclose any information besides their Banchan display name/handle to artists. All payment processing is done directly through Banchan and Stripe, and no personal information is displayed either during checkout, or in bank transaction listings.

Banchan will technically have access to some of this confidential information (such as names and last 4 digits of bank account numbers) through the admin dashboard, and we may occasionally need to interact with it when resolving disputes or technical issues, but we're committed to treating this with the due confidentiality and respect it deserves, with access available on an as-needed basis. Only site administrators and support staff are able to access this information.

For concrete details on what we are legally possibly going to require or have access to, please refer to our privacy policy, and when in doubt, feel free to ask!
